Foods To Eat together to Maximize Health Benefits

Have you ever thought sometimes that a certain food would go so well with what you’re eating? As if something’s lacking? Perhaps, while eating an apple, you suddenly crave for a good old bar of dark chocolate? You may want to listen to your taste buds. There

There are certain food pairings that go extremely well together. And because mother nature works in mysterious (read: ways we are sometimes too lazy to understand), foods that taste good together are also usually the kind that should be consumed together in order for our bodies to fully reap their health benefits.

Here are some favorite pairings of mine:

Apple + Dark Chocolate

Absolutely delicious! They’re delicious alone, but eaten together and they might just be capable to change your life for the better. Each boasts a good amount of nutrition. Quercetin from apples boosts heart health, relieves allergies and blood vessel problems, and even fatigue. Eating apples is a quick fix to boost your energy. Meanwhile, dark chocolate is a powerful source of antioxidant that makes you look youthful.

Green Tea + Lemon

Green Tea is an amazing drink loaded with so many benefits (from healthy skin to faster metabolism). Drinking green tea with lemon lets our bodies absorb 5 times the antioxidant catechin found in green tea (that’s 5x the benefits, pretty amazing)

Oatmeal with berries

Researchers found that when grains were eaten with vitamin C, it boosts the ability of the oat phytochemicals protects heart from bad cholesterol better. Plus eating fruits with oats means lesser chance of sugar level spikes.

Banana + Milk

The fiber inulin found in bananas balances the good bacteria in your gut. This is good for those tummy problems you may from eating too much (too much apples and dark chocolates, perhaps?). It also increases the absorption of calcium that leads to stronger bones.

Spinach and Strawberries

OKAY, not a favorite. But I reckon I should toss a vegetable here before the list ends. I’m trying to eat more veggies and I find that the easiest way is to make a shake. Strawberry and mango seem to be the only two fruits that can mask the spinach flavor. This is a good combo because our body needs vitamin C to absorb all that iron from the spinach. And well, it makes spinach less disgusting, so bottoms up! Can’t wait for the day when I actually

There are many more vitamin and food combinations out there! Unfortunately, I’m still a bit scared to experiment with food. Let me know in the comment section below if you have tried any of these out!
